Salary RangeFrom $74193 to $94121 Annually
Duties Description Assist Physical Training and Defensive Tactics (PT/DT) Technical Sergeant with injury and illness (I&I) reporting to identify Recruits in need of injury assistance or those that should seek further medical evaluation.
Coordinate all evaluations/injuries with EMS staff and consult with Division Physician on an as needed basis.
Create rehabilitation program routines for injured Recruits.
Provide continued evaluation of injured Recruits
Assist Recruits with preventative maintenance measures or exercises.
Create educational handouts on injury prevention/rehabilitation exercises and stretches. Work with PT/DT staff for creating and presenting the health and wellness presentation for Academy and leadership schools.
Serve as a resource to customize/create strategic workout plans to increase rehabilitation efforts of Members on modified duty or attempting to return to modified duty
Consult with Division Physician to assist with opportunities to improve Member wellness.
Publish regular Member newsletter to include educational exercise plans for rehabilitation and preventative maintenance information.
Travel on occasion to meet with Members for specific rehabilitation and preventative exercise programs.
Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress with all treatment for Members and Recruits. Direct, assess, and communicate with additional medical resources.
Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in Physical Therapy, licensed in accordance with Article 136, NYS Department of Education,
AND
Minimum of 2 years in athletic training, physical therapy, or a similar role involving rehabilitation and injury prevention programs. Experience with individuals in physically demanding professions (e.g. military, law enforcement, first responders) or with athletes is highly desirable.
Training & Skills:
Knowledge of injury evaluation, rehabilitation, and prevention strategies.
Proficiency in applying protective and rehabilitative equipment such as braces, wraps, and kinesiology tape.
Ability to create and customize fitness and rehabilitation programs tailored to individual needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with medical staff, leadership, and trainees.
Proficiency in documenting medical records and maintaining accurate reports.
Familiarity with coordinating with EMS, medical personnel, and organizational leadership regarding health and injury management.
Ability to develop educational materials and presentations on health, wellness, and injury prevention.
Basic administrative and organizational skills to manage purchasing, inventory, and maintenance of physical therapy equipment.
Other Requirements:
Certified in CPR.
EMT certification preferred but not required.
Ability to travel as needed to support field personnel.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling medical records and sensitive information.
Minimum qualifications must be met by the date of the posting.
