Duties Description The New York State Unified Court System State Board of Law Examiners is currently seeking applicants in the Computer Systems Analyst Series. The position will be filled in one of the following titles and will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the applicant selected: Associate Computer Systems Analyst, Senior Computer Systems Analyst, or Computer Systems Analyst.

With a Senior Technical Manager, the Computer Systems Analyst will be responsible for computer programming and systems analysis for the New York State Board of Law Examiners (Board), including designing, testing, upgrading and maintaining the Board’s website, applicant portal, exam application system, and grading portal. The individual hired for this position will also be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting personal computers and related accessories as well as assisting in administering the bar examination at sites across the State.

Minimum Qualifications Associate Computer Systems Analyst:

One year of permanent, competitive class service in the Senior Computer Systems Analyst title; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience in computer systems analysis; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Base Salary: $99,490

Senior Computer Systems Analyst:

One year of permanent, competitive class service in the Computer Systems Analyst title; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience in computer programming or computer systems analysis; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Base Salary: $84,659

Computer Systems Analyst:

One year of permanent, competitive service in the Computer Systems Analyst Trainee or Computer Applications Programmer title; or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience in computer programming or computer systems analysis; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Base Salary: $64,971

Knowledge of the software development life cycle and technical writing experience is required as is the ability to work with multiple areas of the Board’s functions as the Computer Systems Analyst role addresses areas that include operational, legal, and technical concerns. Experience with MS Access and MS Office is required, including proficiency in database management, spreadsheet development, document preparation, and workflow coordination. Candidates must also possess strong general IT skills, such as hardware and software troubleshooting, system navigation, and familiarity with standard technology tools used in an office environment. Experience with various testing methodologies (regression testing, automated testing, and comparing data outputs) is a plus. Proficiency in SQL is preferred, but not required.
