Job Specifics

Duties Description Are you interested in starting or advancing your career with New York State? Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 positions provide excellent opportunities for advancement and growth. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Secure Care Treatment Aides care for patients with severe and persistent mental illness within an OMH secure intensive treatment unit or forensic facility. Additional duties include:

• Observe and monitor patients
• Apply therapeutic techniques to stabilize patients
• Record notes on patient behaviors
• Apply physical restrains to patients as ordered by physician
• Maintain a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff

Minimum Qualifications Secure Care Treatment Aide 1 (SCTA 1) is an entry-level direct care position. Candidates must possess a high school diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or similar equivalency such as a General Education Development (GED) Certification or higher degree.

In addition:
1. You must be able to communicate and follow oral and written instructions and directions in English in order to perform the duties of the position.

2. If you are selected for appointment, you may be required to attend a physical exam. Your physical and medical condition will be evaluated to ensure that you are able to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. The physical/medical standards include a medical standards evaluation and a drug screening test. Failure to meet the standards may result in your disqualification. Additional Comments:
Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for ISU ($46,306), an Increase Hiring Rate ($5,964) and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($56,743) and Geographic Pay Differential ($4,000).
